The Packers lost a key contributor in Sunday's victory and Philly, and another with potential to contribute this season.
The Packers placed starting running back Ryan Grant and defensive tackle Justin Harrell on injured reserve on Monday, ending their seasons.
Grant's injury was not considered too serious, but further tests confirmed a ligament tear in his ankle that will require surgery and 10-12 weeks on crutches.
However, it's too early to panic.
For Harrell, credit the Packers with having great defensive line depth. Despite losing Johnny Jolly and now Harrell, the defensive line should still be able to perform up to its potential and be one of the top rush defenses in the league.
As for Grant, it's now secret that his loss will be a difficult one to take for the Packer offense. The Packers are reliant on his durability and 1,200 yards. However, the Packers backup running back Brandon Jackson remains a valuable option, though not nearly the threat rushing the ball as Grant.
The Packers will remain to be a pass-heavy offense, but their ability to keep defenses honest with the rushing game may be a little more challenging.
Jackson will have to step up and carry the load for the running attack. Luckily, for the Packers, he is a great blocker and a receiving threat out of the backfield.
Hopefully, the Packers offense and defense doesn't suffer too much without Grant or Harrell. Although it's no secret that their offense won't be nearly as potent without Grant in the backfield.
