Packers Prepare for Philadelphia: Week 1 Preview

Green_bay_packers

The Kevin Kolb era begins.

Will the Packers be ready to handle the "City of Brotherly Love" as Philadelphia Eagles fans try to watch a team without Donovan McNabb on the roster since 1998?

In a word--yes.

The Packers are popular picks to win the NFC North and even advance so far as the Super Bowl. If Packer fans should be worried about the preseason projections and a possible jinx remains to be seen.

The Packers can let their play on Sunday do the talking.

I believe the NFC North as a whole will be a better division and could even see the Lions jumping the Bears for inferiority in the North.

The Lions have a great young quarterback in Matthew Stafford and one of the game's best receivers in Calvin Johnson. Not to mention, they have a revamped defense with free agent pickup Kyle Vanden Bosch and rookie Ndamokong Suh.

The Bears hired Mike Martz to help Jay Cutler's offense but I don't see any other playmakers on the Bears offense outside of Matt Forte and Johnny Knox that can put the points on the board to keep up with the offensive juggernauts in the North.

The Packers on the other hand, will play a team searching for its identity after its quarterback departed in the offseason for a fellow NFC East foe.

The Packers secondary, one of the biggest question marks heading into the season, will be thrust into duty to defend against two talented young wideouts in DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.

The Packers may have solved their offensive line problems this offseason as they only allowed four sacks throughout the preseason, tied for third best in the league.

Aaron Rodgers is another popular pick for NFL MVP and could lead one of the best offenses in the NFL.

All I have to say is the Philadelphia Eagles secondary better have their running shoes on because with wide receivers Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones, and Jordy Nelson along with tight end Jermichael Finley, Rodgers will have plenty of weapons at his disposal.

Sound familiar?

Yeah, the Saints won the Super Bowl last year with a very similar offensive style.

Now I'm not saying the Packers are automatic locks to go to the Super Bowl because of their offense. But the Packers have all the tools to put together a special season and make it to Dallas for the Super Bowl.

Step one in the right direction: beat Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field.

Their next four games: vs. Buffalo, @ Chicago, vs. Detroit, @ Washinton. All very winnable games and an opportunity to start the season much better than last year's 4-4 start.
